Shale gas exploration and developmet have been well-known to all the world, and the situlation shows that shale gas win a place in the whole energy industry because of its traits that are abundant, clean and efficient. Although many countries have promoted the development of shale gas project, there are many countries prohibit the project strictly. The main reason is that shale gas exploration and developmet project easily causes a lot of pollution, includes numerous risks and needs high investment. In our country, shale gas exploration and developmet target is to achieve standardization, large-scale, and industrialization as soon as possible. Therefore, the oil and gas producers need to master core technology, the equipment manufactures need to promote innovation equipment, otherwise government and companies must establish risk management standards and specification. In the thesis, by using risk management theory, we study on the rack and pinion rig and drilling technology of shale gas in order to identify, analyse and assess the risks, and find out risk control and monitor methods.Firstly, compared to the convetional oil and gas exploration and developmet, one of assignments in the thesis is to find what directions and main rig models by using in shale gas.Secondly, the chapter three of the thesis is mainly to indtroduce the rack and pinion rig in detail and analyse potential risk of the rig by using FMEA, and then to finish calculating and checking structural strength of hydraulic cylinder and the contact strength and bending strength when rack and pinion keep engageing. For derrick of rig, the thesis is mainly to study the stress and deformation of derrick bars under the load conditions which are normal operating condition, unpredictable condition and raising process condition with the software of ABAQUS. In addition, using one of mechanical reliability methods, this is JC,calculates the reliability of derrick,rack and pinion,and partial elements and equipment.Thirdly, based on study of the drilling technology of shale gas and fault models of rack and pinion rig, the assignment is to identify the risks by risk matrix which is an new method that is improved in the basis of borda count, and to evaluate the risk sources in order to conclude major risks and make plans for risk management.At last, chapter five mainly shows serveral measures of major risks control and monitor, and put forward job risk monitor and montrol procedure.
