As the exclusive process of fully continuous tandem cold mills,flying gauge change(FGC) is the key technique to realize fully continuous rolling.Therefore,rescarch on flying gauge change in tandem cold mills has an great significance in keeping the normal production and improving the quality and yield of products. The research of virtual rolling system can provide technical references and simulation experiment environment for the reconstruction and design of the existing rolling mills.4We can analysis the coupling relationship between rolling force, speed, tension by virtual rolling system.This paper take the five stand tandem cold rolling mill that based on virtual rolling method as the research object and analysis the fying gauge control strategy and virtual system reponse. Flying gauge change control system was built on the platform of MATLAB/SIMULINK software by C language and matlab.Firstly, the paper introduce the structural composition of virtual continuous rolling system and the realization method of virtual rolling in real time. The control part of the tracking module is established by C language and MATLAB mixed programming method.Secondly, according to the basic principle of flying gauge change, the main parameters and the position of the wedge in the process of simulation are given in detail.At the same time, according to the characteristics of FGC process, the law of thickness control and speed control was analyzed. The control scheme is specified in the variable specification, that is,the setting value divided into several time to give.Finally, connecting the virtual control system and existing virtual rolling mill, a complete simulation mill FGC system was established. The incoming strip of same thickness and different thickness was put into simulation model.The calculated data input to the simulation of five stand tandem virtual rolling system,and the coupling relationship between the rolling force, the speed and the tension can be analyzed improving the structure tension regulating system to make the process of FGC more stable.
