In order to solve the problem taken by the increasingly severely absence of resources and the huge resources requirement of human society, more and more countries and organizations begin to pay attention to Sustainable Development. As the largest country producing and using of machine tool of the world, China is facing a great challenge of energy resources. At the same time, the severely energy situation has become one of the factors which are restricting the development of our country’s economy. To explore the energy consumption of machine tool mechanism, optimize the cutting parameters in the machining can alleviate the pressure brought by the problems listed above effectively.According to the machine tools’ working state, this paper divides the energy consumption into several sections: standby energy consumption, the spindle system energy consumption of, the feed system energy consumption, functional system energy consumption and cutting energy consumption. Verifying the model between the Power of Material Removal(PMR) and the Material Removal Rate(MRR) through the four factors three levels orthogonal experiments, and illustrating the calculate method of the PMR.In view of the influence of energy consumption of machine tools taken by the cutting tool weariness, modeling the energy consumption of machine tools considering cutting tool wear and introducing the cutting tool wear affect factor to show the trend of energy consumption of machine tools whilst the cutting tool wearing. Establishing the model of PMR based on the model mentioned above, and presenting the model of the energy efficiency of machine tools.Based on the energy consumption model of machine tools considering tool wear, designing the initial cutting energy consumption model experiment, confirming the model coefficients through experiment data analysis, verifying the predict precision of the initial cutting energy value through the initial cutting energy consumption model; establishing the cutting energy consumption model considering cutting tool and designing experiment to verify it, the analysis result shows that the model has the ability to illustrate the trend of the cutting energy consumption while the cutting tool wearing.In milling, for instance, take the minimum of energy consumption and the minimum of machining time as two optimization objectives through genetic algorithm multi-objective optimization. Transferring the double-objective optimization to single objective optimization problem by the weight coefficients of normalization processing and transformation method and the weights are determined by fuzzy analytic hierarchy process(FAHP). Finally, this paper proposes the results of genetic algorithm optimization with the weights determined by FAHP.
