Intravenous infusion is a clinical treatment commonly used in hospital. In which the liquid drip rate is an important parameter to ensure the infusion safety and treatment effect. At present, most medical staff in China mainly adjust the liquid drip rate manually according to their observation and the cumulative clinical experience, so there might be big adjustment errors and bring potential safety hazard to patients to some extent;In addition, timely notification to the medical staff and appropriate medical treatment should be adopted in such situations as the exchange of transfusion bottles, needle injection and tube blockage during infusion; As for critically ill patients, infusion process requires real-time recording and treatment cases collection. All the work mentioned above should be cooperatively undertaken by the medical staff, patients and nurses through division of labor, however, due to long infusion time, it will not only bring mental and physical exhaustion to the patients and nurses, but also add increasing workload and pressure to the medical staff, which is likely to cause mistakes and medical disputes. Therefore, the traditional manual monitoring mode can’t meet the demand for medical services, it is imperative to enhance the technical level of intravenous infusion monitoring system.In recent years, ZigBee technology receives widespread attention in research and application, it’s a new short-range wireless sensor network technology which focuses on low power, low cost, low complexity and low-rate. The paper designs a new type of medical infusion monitoring system based on the ZigBee technology. The system uses ZigBee technology, embedded technology and optical sensing technology to achieve a real-time detection of the liquid drip rate, the calculation of the remaining infusion capacity, the infusion status display and alarm functions at first; Then it uses the ZigBee self-networking technology to achieve a transfusion monitoring data from the sickroom to the monitoring center of the wireless transmission; In that way, the medical staff can easily grasp the patient’s real-time infusion process.This paper specific contents of research and design are:(1) Research and design of system solutions, based on which systemic network construction programs are proposed;(2) Research and design of a hardware and software functions of ZigBee node, including monitoring node, routers, coordinator, the focus is on the elaborate research and design of hardware and software of the drip rate detection module in monitoring node; then the paper describes states functions of infusion centers’monitoring security and information management system and develop communication protocol between its data and coordinator;(3) Testing of intravenous infusion care system based on ZigBee technology in hospitals.
