Power transformers have been the major devices in power system, whose safetyand reliability can have direct influence on the reliable operation of the whole powernetwork. In the present, gas solved in oil meteorologic chromatogram analysis hasbeen considered as an important means of detecting inner faults and fault types in thetransformers. With the increasing capacity of power system and enhancement ofoperating voltage, the method of gas solved in oil meteorologic chromatogramanalysis has been increasingly improved, varying from conventional off-linechromatogram analysis to present on-line monitoring, which shows an essential stepin the oil chromatography detecting technology. In this paper, combined with theoperating characteristics of Tianjin Binhai power network, the assess of thetransformer state and decision of maintaining transformer equipments are introduced.The present station of oil chromatography detecting technology in Time-BasedMaintenance and Condition-Based Maintenance of power transformers is analyzed.According to the detecting principle and characteristics of oil chromatographydetector, both detecting systems and diagnostic methods in the present domestic andoverseas power system are provided. Based on the consideration on the factors anderror sources influencing the results of conventional oil chromatogram analysis, sevengas (H2, CO, CO2, CH4, C2H6, C2H4, C2H2) solved in transformer oil in transformersubstations are analyzed by using off-line detecting technique. The fault in theswitching insulation, the oil leakage in35kV Youyi road2#transformer body, theshort-circuiting fault in110kV Chaoyinsi2#transformer, and the bad connecting inthe inner of220kV Poyang road1#transformer have been found by using the off-linedetecting. These results can show that the off-line detecting technique is stable,credible and able to reflect the status of transformer operation, which can be used asthe warrant of condition maintenance for the power transformers.This paper also gives the ways to develop the oil chromatogram on-linemonitoring system for Condition-Based Maintenance on the transformer equipment.Due to our conditions of equipment and personnel nowadays, the application of oilchromatogram on-line monitoring in the field substations of Tianjin Binhai district,the monitoring and diagnostic status of power transformers have been summarized.The analysis of transformer operation status and faults diagnosis, and practical data is a major task of this paper. Substation with oil dissolved gas line detection technologyapplication and implementation of110kV Hechang Road3#main transformer Thesummary results show that the TROM-600device operates with reliability andstability. Base on the application of this system, the status of transformer operationand basic realize Condition-Based Maintenance of Transformer can be synthesized online.
