Adjustable hydraulic torque converter (HTC) inherits the excellent transmissionquality and good stability dead load. It has been widely applied to the mixing machine,extrusion machine, filling machine and some other dead load devices. And in recentyears, some experts and scholars are studying its variable speed function, so that it canbe applied to the wind turbine drive train.This paper has been applied to domestic dredger LB46adjustable guide vanehydraulic torque converter for the study. It based on three-dimensional flow fieldtheory for the flow field numerical simulation of the torque converter, which providinga reference for the torque converter optimization program design. The main works ofthis paper include the following aspects:①The paper introduces the related theory about HTC, summarizes the currentresearch status of the flow field numerical calculation of HTC, leads the applicationresearch of LB46adjustable guide vane HTC from the current research status ofcontinuously variable transmission;②The paper introduces the basic control equations of Computational FluidDynamics (CFD) and discrete method based on finite volume method, compared andanalyzed three algorithms which applied on CFD at present;③The model of LB46adjustable guide vane HTC is built, two type singlechannel model are extracted. The paper selects SST k-ω turbulence model and CFXsoftware to simulate the flow field. The result shows that O model is fitter than Amodel for predicting the original characteristic curve and better to simulate the flownearby the vane. The paper analysis the flow field of single model, and explicates thephenomenon of flow separation on pump impeller vane which combined with thetheory of boundary layer.④The full flow channel model of LB46adjustable guide vane HTC is built andmeshed, then this paper selects MFR model, SST k-ω turbulence model and simulatesthe flow field by FLUENT software. The result indicates the full flow channel model isfitter than single model for predicting the original characteristic curve on LB46adjustable guide vane HTC, and considers the reason of larger errors on single model isthat non-periodic distribution of the flow field. The paper analysis the effect of theHTC performance abort different properties of working liquid and different opening position of adjustable guide impeller, and explores the reason of deviation abort theresult.⑤It based on the existing research for common airfoil integrated approach andproposed the integrated approach to pump impeller vane of LB46-HTC, whichprovides a theoretical basis for the integrated pump wheel leaf type. The pumpimpeller vane is corrected and integrated, and a parametric modeling for pump wheelbased on the result of integration is built. And numerical simulation resultsdemonstrate the feasibility of the parametric integration. It provides importantsolutions for vane-type pump optimization.
