In recent years, with the sustaining economic development, urban vehicles fiercelyincreased. Traffic pressure is significantly more serious than before. The frequentlyoccurrence of traffic incidents brought increasingly serious harassments to people, andthe existing road infrastructures can’t be radically improved in a short term. This has madethe problem of how to rely on efficient control means to improve traffic efficiencycaused widespread concern in all walks of life. Meanwhile, the road arterial trafficconditions also directly affect the operation of the entire transport network. Therefore,in this paper, road artery is served as research object, arterial signal is analyzed, therealization of arterial signal coordination optimization control is researched, and itsmethod based on offset is mainly researched.Firstly, aiming at the currently methods of arterial signal coordination control, Ipresented a review to its studies at home and abroad, then based on the basic theories ofroad signal control, I compared single point signal control with arterial coordinationsignal control, and mainly analyze to the minimum delay method. Focusing on thefeature that real-time traffic control perform poorly, I fully considered the factors ofvehicle discrete. Aiming at the total vehicle delay and total number of parking at arteriesas evaluation index, I proposed a new model based on offset for arterial signalcoordination optimization control by analyzing the two-way rules of vehicles delay atthe arteries. The model presented in this paper is solved by using genetic algorithm in theMATLAB programming environment, and simulated by adopting VISSIM microscopictraffic flow simulation system. We obtained the total vehicle delay and total number ofparking at arteries which has been optimized, and compared the results with one oftraditional control. Results show the total vehicle delay and total number of parking at arteries areless than that in traditional control, which prove the validity of the model built in thispaper, indicate that the model has the obvious superiority and can better achieve theeffect of artery coordination control.
