As an important component grid insulation, insulation effectiveness of theinsulator directly affect the safe operation of the grid. Domestic and foreignresearchers to detect poor quality insulators charged a lot of research work carried outto obtain a wealth of research results. However, because of the type of insulatordefects harsh operating environment of diversity, power outage caused by thedeterioration of the insulator is still frequently occur. In this paper, disc suspensionporcelain insulators for the object, for the deterioration of the insulator and defectdetection of infrared thermal imaging diagnostic techniques were studied. Bystudying the different factors affecting the insulator infrared thermal image detection,proposed an improved infrared thermal imaging diagnostic methods, to improve thesafe operation of the power grid reliability has important significance.Deterioration in the normal insulator strings and insulator string voltagedistribution on the basis of analysis of the mechanism of heat insulators wereanalyzed. Theoretical studies show that proportional to the square of the heatinsulator voltage power and distribution, distribution of heat insulator strings like anormal distribution with a corresponding voltage that was asymmetrical saddle;deterioration of the heating power insulators with non-linear changes in the value ofthe insulation resistance; thermal insulators like features low temperature highperformance steel cap.Like testing laboratory simulation experiments, infrared thermal insulator asdiscriminating diagnostic methods were analyzed by infrared thermal insulator. Theexperimental results showed that: the external environmental factors affect only themeteorological rate of heat exchange with the air insulator, self-heating withoutsignificant impact on the insulator can be detected through the development ofrelevant guidelines for the maximum to avoid the interference of meteorologicalfactors; infrared thermal imaging features very low insulators obvious, but theuneven distribution voltage insulator strings, using traditional diagnostic methodsinfrared Mistakes happen. Therefore, the traditional method of infrared thermal imaging to detect the deterioration of the accuracy of the insulator to be furtherimproved. Based on the position of the temperature difference between the normalinsulator string with stable within a certain range, and low temperature differencebetween the insulator on the map features a very obvious fact that the introduction ofnumerical analysis method, an improved diagnostic methods deterioration insulators.Based on the use of infrared thermography technology improved diagnostic methodsinferior insulators in the substation site verification, test results show that the newmethod compared to conventional infrared thermal image detection method, asubstantial increase in the deterioration of the insulator insulators correct especiallylow detection rate, with in-depth research and promotion of value.
