Since the future battlefield is characterized by ‘integrated’,‘united’ and‘all-dimensional’ features, flexible operational weapons should be equipped in thebattlefield, and it is also applicable for the airplane. Airplane that can only fly in thesky can no longer satisfy the demands of future wars. If it can fly in the sky and sail onwater, and dive underwater if necessary to elude the radar search and attacks of theenemy, it should also fly out of the water to attack the enemy or achieve valuableinformation accidentally, it may achieve special operational effectiveness, and evenbring brand new reform in the operational modes, which will be of great significancefor the development of future war. Besides, in order to realize the amphibian, theremust be a power plant that can be applied in the water and in the sky for providingpower. At present, in the amphibian field, it is still in the designed experiment stage inChina, but the development of the technology has always been restricted by theefficiency of power system and water-proof performance. Both military and civil fieldsare badly in need of a power plant applicable for amphibian.The particularity of power system must be able to work at the same time in the airand underwater for the water-air UAV. According to the above requirements,inventionof water-air UAV demands a power plant which can be used in either water or air.Detailed procedure is to substitute electric compressor (air mode) or water pump(water mode) for turbine. In other words, high-speed electric air fuel propulsion modeis adopted when it is in the air while interaction of sodium in combustion chamber orother metal with water aided by low-speed electric pump is employed underwater.Based on the studies of domestic and foreign aero-engine compressor andcentrifugal water pump, this paper aims at the water-air engine, two aerodynamicshape of the impeller are designed at first, and then according to the design standard,to retrofit the impeller design the other two paragraphs. And with the application offluent software makes a numerical simulation of the four air and water models,according to whose results conduct an analysis and evaluation of the designedcentrifugal impellers. Through the comparative analysis, the results show that althoughthe retrofit impeller performance less than in the air compressor impeller, and is not asgood as in the water centrifugal pump impeller, but results show that the parameters can basically meet the requirements of water-air usage, which serves to providereference for the design of similar water-air impeller and for the optimization ofcompressor impeller.Through the research and analysis, The proposed water-air centrifugal compressorimpeller was solved the water-air engine dynamic problem of the tip of the iceberg.Ifwe want to make the engine even the UAV dream come true,there are many problemsabout the power system which we have to talk.These are worth to continue to exploreand research in the future.
