Fatigue failure is the main failure reason of engineering structure and mechanical parts. Windturbine blades have complex structure, and complex composite laminate, and sustain complex loads.A wind turbine blade must have high strength so that it will not fail during its life. Therefore it’simportant to study fatigue life of blades, and it’s valuable for design, manufacture, optimization andreliability assessment of wind turbines.The paper firstly introduces the relevant blade fatigue analysis theories which includes fatiguecumulative damage theory、rain flow counting method and the S-N curve, and then analysis thecomplex load situation during the operation process of the blades. The paper summarizes thecalculation method of impacting on wind turbine blade fatigue three main load, aerodynamic load,gravity load, the force of inertia load. And use the GH Bladed calculated the load data about bladeunder different wind speed.Based on ANSYS to establish the three-dimensional model of the blade, according to the bladestructure is made up of many different material layer and become anisotropic, choose SHELL99unitto blade girder, front and back edge profile, web, and other parts of layer Settings, and then based onthe blade material performance to set the material parameter Settings, and finally mesh the wholemodel to get three-dimensional finite element model of the blade. And gives a detailed introduce ofthe blade modeling process, for your reference.Finally, by the strength analysis to determine the dangerous parts of blade.Using ANSYS fatigueanalysis module in the general processor and according to the wind distribution data which isprovided by manufacturer and related fatigue calculation theory, estimate the blade fatigue life.
