Bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM) integrates outstanding features of switchedreluctance motor (SRM) and bearingless technology. Due to its advantages of flexible control, simplestructure, high integration, fault tolerance and high adaptability, it has potential application prospect inthe aerospace and other fields. In order to improve the reliability of BSRM, fault-tolerant control of short-circuit fault indual-winding BSRM is investigated in this paper. The main contents are concluded as follow:Firstly, according to the structure of motor and the distribution of magnetic field, themathematical model of short-circuit current is derived. The validity of the proposed model is verifiedby the finite element method (FEM) and short circuit experiment. Based on this model, compensationmodel of short-circuit fault is built and its correctness is verified by the FEM.Secondly, the effect of short-circuit fault on the motor is analysed via the FEM. Thecompensation strategy for levitation force is introduced based on the fault tolerance mathematicalmodel. Aimed at optimizing average torque, the compensation control strategy for torque which canincrease positive and reduce negative torque is proposed and verified by the simulation results. Finally, the experiment is carried out on the digital control system platform which takesTMS320F2812as the core. The experimental results verify that the rotor shaft may be successfullysuspended under the short-circuit fault condition, which verifies the validity of the relevant theory.
