Electric power is essential to the modern society, but power outages occur occasionally. In thepast10years, large-scale blackouts have occurred in many countries and regions,such as American,Russia, India, ect,which caused inestimable economic losses and had a serious impact on normalproduction and social order. Therefore, ensuring the stable operation of the power grid through variousmeasures and providing users with high quality and reliable power continuously, will have the vitalsignificance to economic construction and social development.The reserve power source automatic connection (referred to as the "RSAC") is one of theimportant equipment to guarantee power supply reliability for a substation (regional). And it has beenwidely applied in the substations where power grid voltage grade is below220kV in China.With the rapid development of China’s power grid, the Northwest Power Grid750kV/330kVelectromagnetic loop network need to be opened, and the grid should configure RSAC devices toimprove the power supply reliability. Therefore, the research is important for improving the reliabilityof the power grid operation, increasing the power limit of750kV transmission channels,and raisingthe transmission capacity of wind power, photovoltaic and other new energy. Based on330kV/750kVgrid structure and power characteristics, and engineering experience of RSAC in110kV,220kV grid,this paper has proved the feasibility of application of RSAC in the330kV substation, and proposedconcrete implementation scheme.The research is focus on following topics:(1) Analyzed the influence of the main wiring structure of330kV substations on RSAC device,and determined the principles of selection of the judging voltage.(2) Researched the influence of closing the standby power with loading on330kV transformersand protection equipments, and put forward the corresponding solutions.(3) Proposed the RSAC implementation scheme of330kV substations.(4) Introduced the main power system simulation software, and established330kV power systemsimulation mode by using PSCAD/EMTDC, focus on the integrated modeling method of RSAC in thesystem.(5) Verified the correctness of the proposed control strategies and RSAC model, and providedtechnical supports for the practical engineering.The simulation results show that, the RSAC control strategies proposed in this paper meet the control requirements of330kV Grid. The research results not only have directive significance for thepractical engineering but also have reference significance for RSAC applications in higher voltagegrid.
