According to the technical requirements of parachute dummy airdrop test, the force balance isused to measure the dynamic loads after the parachute opens, and examine whether it’s belowstandard or not. Optimization design, finite element analysis, shaping craft formulation andcalibration device of extreme load design are completed, and calibration formula is got through staticcalibration. It is the first time to measure the dummy airdrop test data with force balance in China. Thetwo difficulties are overcome: the installation space is seriously limited and the balance will beoverloaded. According to the dimension of the dummy chest, structure of the balance is designed andin accordance with the uncertainty of the parachute cord and the dummy, the range load and extremeload are determined. Aiming at the two aspects above, optimum stiffness theory and Lagrangemethod are used to remit the contradiction between the sensitivity and the stiffness; finite elementmethod is used to verify the rationalization of the structure further, which can also confirm thebalance work safely. Shaping craft is analyzed. The rough and elaborate electrodes are used to solveprecision problem of electric spark. Calibration device is designed and the calibration method is setto improve the calibration efficiency of the extreme load.We draw some conclusions that the force balance suits the airdrop test from the calibrationresult. First, the accuracy reaches the national and military standard. Second, the calibration formulafits both the range load and extreme load working condition. Third, the distraction among everyconponents is well. Last, the process route is reasonable. And all of these provide reference ofrelated study.
