Wheel wear will change the original contact geometry relationship of wheel-rail, affectthe vibration performance of vehicle system, at the same time, the wheel wear also determinesthe service life of wheel and the economy of using vehicle. Economy turning tread is theproduct of economy requirements when the wheel is in the process of maintenance, it canreduce the cutting volume of metal when turning the wheel, increase the service life of thewheel, extend the running mileage of vehicle. Economy turning tread will not only satisfy therequirement of improving the economy of using wheel, but also can ensure the CRH runningsafely and comfortably. This paper has taken the LMA wheel tread which used on CRH2as the research object, studied the wear of wheel shape and its effect on the vibration performance of CRH under thecondition of mass testing data which was collected by tracking for support. Three kinds ofeconomic turning treads were designed and the wheel-rail contact geometry relationship oforiginal LMA tread and three economy turning tread was compared. The multibody dynamicssoftware ADAMS was used to establish dynamic model of CRH2according to the actualparameters of CRH2, while, the dynamic performance of original LMA tread and threeeconomy turning tread were analyzed for verifying the feasibility of three economy turningtread. The main research work are as follows:(1) The literature which is related to the wheel wear, the vibration performance of vehicleand the economic turning tread were consulted to understand the research background andstatus at home and abroad.(2) The geometric shape wear of wheels and the change rule of equivalent conicity for acertain CRH2car which is on a certain passenger dedicated line were analyzed, at the sametime, the lateral stability of frame, the stability of car body and their corresponding vibrationspectrum under different running mileage for wheel wear were studied.(3) Three economic turning tread whose rim thickness are30mm,28mm and26mmrespectively were designed, while, the service life of wheel corresponding to three economicturning tread were analyzed. The wheel-rail contact geometry relationship of the originalLMA tread and three economy turning tread were analyzed, which included the distribution ofwheel-rail contact points, equivalent conicity.(4) The dynamic model of CRH2was established by DAMS software and the dynamicalsimulations which included the critical speed of vehicle, the lateral stability of frame, thestability of car body, the performance of small radius curved-track negotiations were carried out to compare the original LMA tread for verifying their dynamic performance.
