With the increase of train speed, the problem of tread wear is more prominent than ever. The shape of the wheel tread has a direct effect on the wheel-rail contact geometry, and has an important impact on the high-speed train operation safety and comfort. This paper makes a research and study on the effects of different wheel tread wear surfaces on the vehicle dynamic performance, the main work and achievements of this paper are as follows:Firstly, based on the vehicle system dynamics theory, the vehicle dynamics model of CRH2-300high-speed train is established using dynamics simulation software SIMPACK and the model’s correctness is tested.Secondly, use the tread shape measuring instrument to measure tread shapes on different running mileages, then analyze the regular of tread wear, as well as the wheel-rail contact geometry relationship and nonlinear critical speed of the vehicle under different tread wears. Then write programs with the method of trace principle to get the position of the wheel-rail contact points under different wear conditions, thus obtaining the rolling circle radius difference and equivalent conicity.Thirdly, analyze various dynamics parameters under different tread wear conditions considering that the vehicle straightly run at different speeds, through the800m,5500m and12000m radius curve lines, and calculate the stability index under various conditions using Matlab programming. The results show that:the tread wear have greatest impact on the abrasion power, nonlinear critical speed and Sperling lateral stability, but have slight impact on derailment coefficient, wheel-rail lateral force, and wheel-axle lateral force. This paper obtains the law under different tread wears on the vehicle system dynamics, the findings have guiding significance on CRH2-300high-speed trains’ tread repair limit, and provides a reference for the tread shape optimal design.
