Fire monitor has the characteristics of large flow, long range and reliable work stability,so it has become one of the most widely used fire extinguishing equipment in actual combat.The traditional fire monitor’s body structure has more than one bend, which causes the energyloss and directly affects the range of water flow, increased energy consumption, reducing fireextinguishing efficiency. In this dissertation, through institutional innovation, the pipe flowwas instead of straight runner by applying the parallel mechanism on fire monitor, to improvefire monitor’s range and reduce the reaction time which has important significance to improvethe efficiency of fire monitor. The research work in this paper carried out is by the following:First of all, the fire monitor extinguishing system was analyzed and the performance andstructure parameters of fire monitor were designed according to the relevant nationalstandards and information of products on the market. Through institutional innovation andcombined with relevant theoretical knowledge of mechanical design, parallel mechanism withtwo degree of freedom to meet the need of fire extinguishing was designed which leads thatstraight channel has be used in fire monitor. Meanwhile, the stress of fire monitor’s tubewall was checked by using the third strength theory.What’s more, for the problem that how to choice the best value of high of fire monitorstreamline nozzle, the height range was obtained from the simulation result which gained byusing FLUENT numerical simulation method simulation of effect of nozzles withdifferent height on jet performance of fire monitor. After the height value was determined,the nozzle entity profile model was established by three-dimensional modeling software andthe coordinates of nozzle’s generatrix at different angles were calculated by the use of Matlab.Through the analysis of the jetting medium and the degree of abrasion, the material ofnozzle was chosen.Finally, this paper regards the traditional series structure and parallel structure firemonitor as the research object, flow pressure drop and jet recoil force of them werecalculated by using the related hydraulics theory knowledge,and the flow pressure field was simulated by the use of Fluent software. The results verified the hydraulic performance ofparallel structure fire monitor has superiority.
