Due to high bearing capacity of pile foundation for a wide range, so it is widely used inbridge engineering. Currently, with the rapid development of the transport sector, bridges towithstand load is increasing, which is proposed new requirements to the ability of pilefoundation bearing capacity and deformation capacity, Many researchers had to take furtherresearch and innovation on piles, so many new types of the pile are emerged out, tapered pileis one of them. Currently expanding pile, wedge pile, ladder-type pile, DX pile have beenwidely studied. They developing faster than other variable section piles in theory.And alsoafter a lot of research and engineering practice test proved that they have more significanteffect on reduce the pile settlement displacement, strengthen the foundation of stability,reduce the cost of the pile, give full play to the effect of soil and other aspects.Nail-shaped pile is a new type of variable cross-section piles, whose cross-section in arange of trailer coupling decreases linearly along the axis of the pile changes. This paperbased on the existing theory and practice believe that nail-shaped pile have their ownadvantages on improve the quantity of bear the load and savings with piles. For this purpose,the paper make analysis on the stress for nail-shaped piles.According to the pile of soil resistance, nail-shaped pile divided into two types, namelyend-bearing piles and friction piles, Use the theory of Winkle elastic foundation beam tocomparative analysis with traditional straight pile force characteristics, to study the feasibilityand merits of the nail-shaped pile. In this paper, using ANSYS finite element analysissoftware, depended on the parameters (pile spacing, pile head diameter) values and based onnumerical simulation to establish the finite element model of nail-shaped pile,then subgroupanalyzes the principal tensile stress of cap, compressive stress and tensile stress of pile, getthe trends of the stress of nail-shaped piles in different parameters to discuss the feasibility ofnail-shaped pile.
