The rib-plate-shaped bridge abutment is a common form of bridge abutment,and it isalways used in high bridge abutment.investigation on the rib-shaped bridge shows that nomatter when it has been built or is being built,the bridge abutments is in good condition whenthe height of bridge abutment is less than8meters,but when the hight of bridge abutment ismore than8meters,varying degrees of cracks will appearing in the position of the middle ofthe bottom of the abutment capping,the top of abutment capping which contact the ribbedplate,the bottom of cushion cap.and the cracks destroy the integrity of abutment.So the fault of the high bridge abutment has not been a simple question in design andconstruction,we must pay high attention to these problems,which will be the urgent technicalproblems that we must solve in the bridge construction.This paper analyze the maximum displacement along the bridge and maximum principaltensile stress of the rib-plate-shaped bridge abutment under the condition of different bridgespan,different bridge abutment height and different place of application of vehicle load.Combined with the engineering project,aim at the different span of the bridge such as40m and50m,using the finite element software Midas/Civil to analyze the mechanicalbehavior of the upper-structure of bridge under the load of balanced vehicle load, unbalancedvehicle load, pedestrian load,temperature load,shrinkage and creep,and get the supportreaction of the support.Then using the finite element software Midas/FEA to sets up spatial entity modelseparately at the height of8m,10m,12m and14m,analyze the mechanical behavior under theload of support reaction,Soil pressure,vehicle load,impulse force and brake force.get the rulesof the maximum displacement along the bridge and the maximum principal tensile stress ofbridge abutment under different influencing factors.hoping the paper,s conclusion can providea reference for the further research of the rib-plate-shaped bridge abutment.
