Lane Departure Warning System has attracted great attention now as an importantcomponent of intelligent transportation system. The lane line recognition and extraction is thecore problem of system research,different illumination will influence result of the lane linerecognition and extraction. The effects of illumination on the lane line recognition andextraction is researched in the article, through development Lane Departure Warning Systembased on DM6446and illuminance experiment.The hardware for Lane Departure Warning System in the article is based on developmentboard of DM6446, that is to say, this hardware plate form for Lane Departure Warning Systemis development board of DM6446as the core.After building the platform, the communicationdevelopment board of DM6446with PC by means of NFS is achieved,and the operatingenvironment for DSP and ARM is builded on PC’s virtual machine. In addition, operatingprinciple of illumination transducer is studied. Illumination gathering system is responsiblefor gathering illumination of Lane line, as auxiliary system of Lane Department WarningSystem, and its main chip is89C51. Illumination transducer is communicated with89C51onIIC bus.In this article, video processing technology in normal light is researched, principle ofillumination on sunny and cloudy influencing lane line recognition and extraction is analyzed,different factors of influencing lane line illuminance is analyzed. There is a problem ofagainst and back light for driving vechile in sunny, which is divided into more specificsituations according to light’s horizontal position and vertical position. When light’s verticalposition is low, the lane line luminance signal captured by camera at against light is differentwith at back light, result of the lane line recognition and extraction is also different,the effecton the camera lens is easily happened; When light’s vertical position is high, the lane lineluminance signal captured by camera at against light is same, only the effect on the cameralens is happened according to some light’s horizontal position at against light. There is not aproblem of against and back light for driving vechile in cloudy,but the effect on the camera lens is happened due to opposite vehicle lights, the lane line recognition and extraction isalso affected.Through the real vehicle experiment, the development Lane Departure Warning Systemand algorithm have been verified, actual operation situation of the development LaneDeparture Warning System is got on sunny and cloudy.With principle of influence on lane linerecognition and extraction, according to result of the lane line recognition and extraction andlane departure warning rate of accuracy, illuminance is divided into distinct segments, factorsaffecting system operation in distinct segments is summarized. Illumination is one of the keyfactors affecting the normal work of the Lane Departure Warning System, which is verified bythe effects of illumination on the lane line recognition and extraction experiments.
