Urban Texture Continuation Method

City is an organic whole, which constantly grows stronger, updates metabolicallyand eventually leaves continuous footprints in the long river of the history. And theCity Fabric is the material appearance of this process. The continuation of the historyof the city is firstly embodied in the continuity of the City Fabric. In other words, thecontinuation of the City Fabric, to some extent, reflects the trace and contains theinternal mechanism and information of the history evolution. From the perspective ofthe design of the city, the essay researches the continuation methods of the City Fabricto reproduce the history footprints of the development of the city and grasp theinherent law of city evolution.Starting from the basic research of the City Fabric and on the basis of theconditions and factors of the City Fabric continuation, the essay puts forward thecontinuation methods of the function fabric, the space fabric and the context fabric. Inthe end, taking the continuation methods of Yanan fabric for example, the researchresult is practically applied in the essay.The essay includes three parts, which are basic research, theoretical analysis andpractical application. Firstly, the concept and research result related to the City Fabricthat include its definition, feature, type, significance and the domestic and foreignresearch status are explained. Secondly, the conditions of the continuation of the CityFabric that include natural condition, cultural context and evolution process areanalyzed. Third, the factors influence the continuation of the fabric that includefunction factor, space factor and context factor are specially studied. Lastly, themethods of the City Fabric continuation are put forward, and the city of Yanan istaken for an example to make a practical application.
