The Regional Study On Contemporary Hotel Design

After the rising of modern architecture, the phenomenon of cultural convergencearound the world is increasingly deep. Regional varieties and features of each countryas well as design creation are weakening, hotel is without exception. As society isdeveloping, hotel has more various functions, tourism, vacation, business trade,economic and cultural communication and so on. It is an important place to meetpeople and it’s also a crucial reflection of local culture. Besides, it has become awindow of local custom. As a result, it’s important to combine hotel design withregionalism.At the beginning of this century, hotel regional design has improved a lot withdeep domestic and abroad communication and various design theories swarming intoour country. Its design skills have a tendency of openness and diversity. They haveshown species of thinking methods and emerged a new appearance.This thesis firstly puts forward the importance of hotel’s designing regionalismthrough analyzing the development and main problems of hotel design, and hotel’sdesign and construction should search for the balance between regionalism and timespirit. Then analyzing the exploration and improve status of modern and temporalhotel regional design, the present cultural context of its exploration to lay a solidtheoretical foundation of this subject study. At last, the writer makes a key survey onthose present examples which have a tendency of regionalism. And summarize fivechief means of regionalism in this century inheriting regional culture tradition,inheriting regional customs, adapting to regional environmental situation, adapting toclimate edaphic condition and contemporary regeneration of regional structure. In thisway to further proclaim those features of hotel regional design since this centurystarted and sum up the main points of this thesis.
