Railway wagons are welded by the steel plates. With the rapid development ofrailway wagons along the high-speed direction, in order to reduce the overall weightof the railway wagons, we continually increase the column space and reduce thethickness of the steel plates. Therefore, it results in serious deformation, breachingthe straightness and flatness tolerance. This seriously affects the appearance qualityof railway wagons, reducing the lifetime.Currently,the detection of the railway wagons straightness and flatness isusually implemented using a feeler gauge. But this method has some weakness,such as low efficiency, poor accuracy. Therefore, a straightness and flatness testingscheme based on laser sensing technology with DSP controller as its core wasproposed, to increase detection accuracy and efficiency.In this paper, the materials of the key components were reasonablly choosed,throgh comprehensively analysing the impact of the detection system functionality,weight, stiffness and other factors. And then, the mechanical structure design and itskey components static and dynamics analysis of the detection system werecompleted using solidworks and ansys softwares. A straightness and flatness testingscheme based on laser sensing technology with DSP controller as its core wasdeveloped, through functional analysis based on the detection system. This systemcan complete the data collection, data display, wireless transmission and U diskstorage, etc. The host computer system was developed using VC++andMatlab.This system integrates wireless data reception functions, data storage andopen functions, curve fitting and surface fitting functions, meanwhile the systemcan get railway wagons’ straightness and flatness.Railway wagons straightness and flatness detection system was set up. Then,multiple sets of experiments were conducted to explore the accuracy of thedetection system. The results show that the accuracy of the detection systemdeveloped is up to0.29mm and0.24mm. Compared with the traditional methodusing a feeler gauge, this detection system developed greatly improves the accuracyand efficiency.
