In the statistical process control of blade manufacturing, the curves of bladesection can be characterized as profiles, which are closed free curves, and are B-splinecurves designed by a series of fixed points. When the profiles are measured, thesample points within each profile are not-fixed. We utilize the profile error, which isused more in engineering application, to describe the difference between the sampleprofile and the designed curves. And profile error can also be used when samplepoints are not-fixed. Based on the profile error, we propose a nonparametric profilecontrol scheme used in Phase II, which combines two individual control charts thatmonitor the shape error and parametric error separately. Then the proposed approachis applied to the blade manufacturing, and the implementation steps in Phase II arealso given. The application results show that the proposed method performs well, andthe control scheme can diagnose the assignable cause when out-of-control pointsignals.
