The globoidal cam mechanism is considered as core parts for automated machine thanks to its advantages such as bearing performance, high index precision, compacted sizes and long-service-life. Meanwhile the globoidal cams is widely applied in field of tobacco machinery and food packaging machinery and automatic tool changing system due to machinery development which becomes precisely, automatically and intellectively. However the profile of globoidal cam is non-developable surfaces, the processing precision of profile and the surface processing quality which contributes directly to the transmission accuracy and affecting the working performance of the globoidal cam. Due to the difficulty in the complex surface machining and measuring, the application of globoidal cams is limited by the bottleneck problem of machining and measuring. However, how to achieve effectively control of processing error and accurate measuring methods is possessing engineering application value and practical guiding significance. Therefore, this research is based on the study of processing error of globoidal cam profile and the measuring device is designed according to this research and the mechanism of conjugated spacing curved surface and Newton iterative method. Vector analysis and the UG-based error modeling and ADMAS simulation and Matlab programming theory, methods and analysis tools above are applied in this paper. The integrity influences of profile error of globoidal cam is investigated and a series of measurement devise for globoidal cam based on offset surface theory is also designed in this paper, the specific studies are as follows:1)Related theory. The theoretical profile equation of globoidal cam and the prediction model with processing error of the practical profile are established by using generating processing theory and mechanism of conjugated spacing curved surface and the method of coordinate transformation. The mechanism of error transfer and the error tracing is formulated for theory support.2)The analysis of influence based on the primitive error for the normal error curve and the machinery transmission accuracy. The mathematical analysis model is derived by the influence-regulation of the process-system error which is the main factor for the transmission precision mechanism. Matlab program is applied in the data analysis. The 3D error model of globoidal cam is built by UG based on the prediction model of the cam profile. And these models are verified by ADAMS.3)The source study of processing globoidal cam error. The error tracing method based on particle swarm optimization is proposed according to ‘certain’ error transmission model which is aimed for the process of globoidal cam based on the theory of whole system error transmission. The error can be obtained by gauging the values of cam curve coordinate data and the examples are applied to verify the experiment by Matlab.4)Design of measuring scheme for globoidal cam. A device is designed to measure the profile error of cam based on the theory of globoidal cam offset surface model and the mechanism of measurement is analyzed. Finally the application of simulation modeling method is verified in the paper.In conclusion, a theoretical basis and an effective measure solution are provided for the profile error of globoidal cam in this paper.
