The variable stroke engine combines two-stroke mode and four-stroke modetogether as well as good fuel economy of four-stroke mode and strong power oftwo-stroke mode which makes full use of the advantages of the two kinds of engine. Thekey is how to realize the variable stroke engine automatic conversion. In low speed/highload or urgent to accelerate condition, the engine works in a two-stroke mode. When theroad condition is good or slow speed up, the engine works in a four-stroke mode. In theswitch strategy, engine output torque will serve as an important parameter, based on thisthe paper has made the following researches.First, the relationship between the torque and throttle angle and engine speed hasbeen analyzed based on the bench test and the cylinder pressure curves throughcombustion analyzer system have achieved to verify the simulation model in the BOOST.Second, based on the four-stroke electronically controlled fuel injection engine, expounds the working principle of the variable stroke engine. The numerical simulationmodel of four-stroke engine in the BOOST has been established as well as verified and theinfluence law of spark advance, fuel injection pulse width and injection timing on thetorque has been studied which provides theoretical foundation for the torque controlstrategy. Two-stroke mode numerical calculation model has been established to predicttwo-stroke engine performance. The last, based on the Neural Network theory, the estimation model of BP and RBFneural network have been established and the various parameters how to affect theperformance of neural network model have been studied. Ultimately, the network modelsatisfying the estimation performance based on experiment has been determined.
