Study On The Evolution And Conservation Of Cultural Landscape Of Southwest Region Historic Town Under The Background Of Urbanization

This thesis is a sub-project named “Study on the Evolution and Conservation ofCultural Landscape of Southwest Region Historic Town Under the background ofUrbanization——A Case Study of Longxing Historic Town”, which belongs to “Studyon the Evolutional Process and Incentive System of Cultural Landscape in SouthwestMountainous Town”(No.51178479) leaded by Professor Li Heping.“Two horizontal and three Vertical” pattern of urbanization has being proposed,which has made the Southwest region would usher in a new round of developmentopportunities and walk into the stage of rapid urbanization, in the Chengdu-ChongqingEconomic Circle and Baotou-Qunming channel radiation. The rapid expansion of urbanspace and rapid changes of the relationship between urban and rural areas in the rapidprocess of urbanization have making the relationship between historical towns andmodern cities complicated and diversified. Construction wave of wanton caused a hugeimpact to the southwest the historic environment, coupled with the limitations oftraditional heritage protection as well as the limits of market-oriented ills, eventuallyleading to historic towns facing many difficulties, such as one side thousand cities andloss of cultural connotations.“Cultural landscape” as a new concept of protection ofheritage types has timely been made, which has changed the traditional thinking for theprotection, and become a future-oriented new guidelines. This thesis based on thisreality and theoretical background, selecting Chongqing Longxing town as a typicalcase of cultural landscapes, exploring the evolution and adaptability of protectionmethods in the context of rapid urbanization.Firstly, by combing the process of urbanization in the southwestern region,clarifying the type and characteristics of the history of the town in the southwest of theevolution of urbanization, the thesis has determined that Longxing is a dual structuredependent town under the background of rapid urbanization. Longxing and the modernurban space are undergoing the most closely linked, and will symbiotic developing withChongqing in the future. Then the thesis analyzed the two systems that material andcultural of cultural landscape, determined the carrier is the pattern of urban space,spatial form, characteristic and typical landmark. Secondly, taking the time as the clue,the thesis depicted the carrier’s evolution track of evolution tin four stages that includes generation, development, maturity and decline. Then build the space-time evolution ofthe dynamic picture. Summed up the impact of cultural landscape evolution proposedthree dynamic mechanism is that the combined effects of cultural forms, continuingurbanization and development needs of contemporary society and effects of culture isthe main dynamic mechanism from the generation, developed to a mature stage,Business culture plays a dominant role in this process, feng shui, immigration, customs,religion, culture to catalyze five defense, penetration effect on the way the individualcarriers at different times. Finally, based on the analysis of the evolution and dynamicmechanism, proposed joint development of the cultural landscape and urban space ofrapid urbanization and modern landscape.The thesis is divided into four parts:Part one includes Chapter1which has introduced the background of the study, thepurpose and significance of the study, the status of domestic and foreign relevantresearches, study method and framework of study, also has defined the study object andthe category of study.The second part includes Chapter2which is the comprehensive analysis on theeffect of the urbanization in southwestern historical towns, which preparing for the hardcore of the thesis. This paper has concluded the relationship types between the westernhistorical towns and the urban space, put forward the influencing factor and finallydiscussed the changes course of Longxing ancient town, as a dual being-attachmenthistorical town, in a urbanization context, through the systematic logic analysis of theurbanization course of the southwest.The third part includes Chapter3and Chapter4which is the core chapter. This partis a detailed analysis process of the study object. Chapter3has dissected theconstitution of cultural landscape of Longxing ancient town through twosystems----material construction and cultural connotation, and then defined four studycarriers of cultural landscape. Chapter4has analyzed the evolution history, includingthe period of generating, developing, being maturing and declining of cultural landscapethrough four levels which are from urban pattern, space form, characteristic place andtypical landmarks, concluding influencing factors and dynamic mechanism order toprovide the basis for the protecting strategies in the following thesis.The fourth part includes Chapter5and Chapter6, which is the conclusion of thethesis. Chapter5is the key chapter, which is based on the evolution analysis that mentioned before, firstly, putting forward the strategies of development in coordinationbetween cultural landscape and the city, taking the protection of key culture form asimportance so that to deal with the rapid urbanization background; Secondly, the thesisdiscussed the protection approaches for the ancient towns’ vital signs, in the perspectiveof cultural landscape, and then raised the approach that combined the materials andculture from levels of carriers. Chapter6has logically analyzed the study train andcontents of the thesis, putting forward the innovation and shortcomings, prospecting thefuture study trends, in order to provide direction for the continuing study.
