As a common architectural form, low-rise sloping roof spread widely fromsoutheast coast to inland, is usually used as civil and commercial buildings. Thisarchitectural form is vulnerable to wind damage, especially when the slope roof locatedin hilly terrin. The low sloping roof is blunt body, and blunt body wind engineering is ahotspot in the wind engineering research in recent years. In the paper, research ongamble-roofed buildings located on the ground and hilly explore the effect of surfaceroughness, turbulent intensity, slopes on the wind loads with the open-source CFDplatform OpenFOAM, and provide reference for the practice.Firstly, introduce the current numerical calculation methods used commonly andseveral turbulence models, then analysis of existing problems when calculating near thewall and the advantages of v2f model. Then, compiling and studying the OpenFOAM, it is open source and flexibledifferent from commercial software Fluent. Learning the use in structural wind engineer, and the advantages of v2f model which is a low low Reynolds number turbulence modelwith non-linear correction is verified. And, calculated the wind loads on the roof of gable roofed buildings, then anslysedthe effect of surface roughness, turbulence intensity and slopes and compared with thestandard. The interference factor is studied with v2f models and the distribution ofeffect is given. Finally, the speed-up ratio and pressure distribution around the mountain is studiedby calculating. Based on the result of diffrent positions and slopes of airflow in variousterrains, some advice about wind loads was put forward.
