For ICPT power supply system, the output power requirements are different withdifferent characteristics of load,so the diversity of load directly affects the power outputvariability of ICPT system. However, for the traditional ICPT system design, in order toimprove ICPT system’s output power,it’s usually realized by improving the capacity ofinput power, and the VA capacity configuration of input power only consider themaximum power requirements, and have no consideration for the particularity in someapplications, such as online rail trams, the output power requirements variation at climbing,acceleration state are larger than at steady state. It is very necessary to studya powerpromotion Strategy of ICPT System based on Super-Capacitor Energy Storage, so as tomeet the needs of its larger power and improve the ICPT system’s output power. When thesystem is running at steady state, the ICPT system is supplied by traditional power, whichnot only meets the requirements diversity of ICPT system output power.but alsominimizes the input power capacity of ICPT system. Therefore, research on powerpromotion strategy of ICPT system with super-capacitor energy storag is essential.In this paper, the ICPT System with super-capacitor energy storageis the researchobject, the main tasks include the following:①In order to improve the output power of ICPT system, a new power supply mode ofICPT system based on super-capacitor energy storage is proposed. For the design of thenew system, the configuration and connection of super-capacitor, the comparison ofbidirectional DC-DC converter, the selection and characteristics of inverter and resonantnetwork are discussed in this paper. Besides, according to the requirements of ICPT syetembased on super-capacitor energy storage, an appropriate topology is designed.②For the circuit topology designed in this paper, the operation principle of twomodes is analyzed,and energy flowing method at different operating modes isdesigned.The super-capacitor modeling and bidirectional DC-DC converter are analyzedwith impedance analysis methods, Besides the relationship among load, working hours,initial terminal voltage of super-capacitor, charging and discharging current in the ICPTsystem, which provides the basis for control strategy.③For the purpose of stability and output power promotion of ICPT syetem withsuper-capacitor energy storage, control strategy of the systemare analyzed, it’s focused onthe charging and discharging methods for super-capacitor, the control methods of bidirectional DC-DC converters and the phase-shifting control method in ICPT system inorder to obtain a stable and constant output voltage, and the overall energy managementand control strategy of system are given.④Finally, to verify the validity of the proposed system and the controlstrategy,simulation system and experiment system were built based on Matlab/Simlink andexperimental platform. The output power of ICPT system with super-capacitor is reched170W, whilethe maximum output power of input DC poweris only150W.Therefore, thefeasibility and effectiveness of power promotion strategy of ICPT system based onsuper-capacitor are verified.
