In recent years, with the development of automobile and motorcycle industry,peoplemore and more pursuit the performance, fuel economy and emissions of automobile.The engine engineers try their best to improve various properties of internal combustionengine. For motorcycle with the development of electric control,multiple valve and highcompression ratio, the thermal load of engine also increases gradually. Previouslymotorcycle only need air cooling can ensure the requirements of heat dissipation.Nowwater-cooled motorcycle appeared and developing faster and fasterFor water-cooled motorcycle engine the cooling system performance directly affectthe reliability of the engine.The most important component in cooling system is waterjacket. Water jacket design is directly related to the whole cooling system coolingefficiency. The research of cooling fluid flow and heat transfer become an importanttask to ensure engine performance.This article start with a mature type single-cylinder water-cooled motorcycleengine as the research object. Established the fluid-solid coupled of the upper-upperpath’s water jacket and computes the model. Analyze the cooling water velocity field,pressure field, temperature field and water jacket wall heat transfer coefficient. Alsoanalyze the temperature distribution of combustion chamber, the cylinderwalls,inlet and exhaust manifolds and other heating area.Evaluate the water jacketcooling capabilities. On this basis design a new water jacket for a new motorcycleengine which have expanded the cylinder diameter. Propose two kinds of water jacketinclude upper-upper path’s water jacket and lower-upper path’s water jacket. They havethe same way of points hole open. Established and calculated the fluid-solid coupled ofthe two kinds of water jacket. The results show that with this points hole opening waylower-upper path’s water jacket has significant flaw.Then optimized the design of pointshole opening way for lower-upper path’s water jacket. The results show that thecooling ability of lower-upper path’s water jacket get a significant boost.And comparison analysis of the upper-upper path’s water jacket and the optimizedlower-upper path’s water jacket. Results show that on the overall cooling effectiveness,lower-upper path’s water jacket have certain advantages, but on the uniformity coolingof cylinder liner, upper-upper path’s water jacket Perform better.
