As we all know,escalator has become an important means of transportation in ourdaily life. Escalator, also known as electric escalator, consists of ladder and twohandrails which are on both sides of ladder. However, escalator’s long-running or aging,results in reversal of the upward escalator; furthermore, when the handrail and pedalmeet speed deviation, which is not synchronized among them, the step speed willgenerate an exception. With the problem mentioned above, escalators casualties arelikely to occur, resulting in public safety incidents, which led to a high degree ofconcern for public about the escalator operational safety issues.At present, although there have been a variety of escalator and elevator securityperformance detector at home and abroad, the existing defects in various degree offunctional redundancy, pertinence, complicated operation, convenient to carry and so on,can’t meet the requirements of the new standards, which is called "safety rules for theconstruction and installation of escalators and moving walks"(GB16899-2011).For this reason, this article relied on safety accident prevention technologyproject(CQAWS2013Y-010) of Chongqing Administration of Production SafetySupervision and the Science and Technology Project(KY201201)of ChongqingMunicipal Quality and Technical Supervision. Based on the escalator inspection andtesting requirements released newly by the country, and combined with defects anddeficiencies existed in the escalator comprehensive security performance detector athome and abroad, we launched the theoretical study and instrument design work oninspection of the portable comprehensive security performance of escalators.The design aim of this thesis was to design a inspective system on escalator’ssecurity performance parameters which consisted of stopping distance, speedsynchronization rate of handrail and steps, and acceleration. Kalman filter algorithm fordisplacement, velocity and acceleration estimation, which was based on incrementaloptical encoder, was presented in this thesis. Thus the overall design of the system wasdescribed, and the hardware and software system design were completed. It describedthe hardware system design, taking STM32F407ARM processor-based as hardwarecontrol platform. The data acquisition circuit, SD card interface circuits andtouch-screen color LCD interface circuit were designed. At the same time, the softwarepart of the system was further realized, including the multi-tasking software design based on embedded real-time operating system μC/OS-II, using μC/GUI graphicalinterface library which supported touch screen and file system FatFs that was stored onthe SD card. Finally, the data processing software based on Kalman filter algorithm wasdesigned.After the completion of the entire detector, test results showed that the escalatorcomprehensive security performance detector met the portability, user-friendly interfaceand accuracy requirements.
