Facing the shortage of land resources, people focus on the skyscrapers, alsocalled as super high-rise buildings, more than ever. In the recent years, skyscrapersappear anywhere around the country. The development of super high-rise buildingsaccompanies with powerful architectural functions and complicated structuralconfigurations. As the increasing of layers, horizontal loading becomes the criticalfactor of structural design and lateral displacement becomes the key point of it. Onthe step of architectural design, structural configuration, conceptual design and lateraldisplacement under seismic loading and wind loading are especially important.Super high-rise buildings no longer belong to the cities like New York, Tokyo,Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Nanchang has become one of these cities in the rapiddevelopment of skyscrapers. Take the example of a Nanchang super high-riseframe-tube hybrid offices building, this issue has done the research as followed:Nanchang is a typical place of great wind loading and low seismic fortificationintensity. Taking the example of project named ‘City in cloud’, using software namedSATWE and Midas building separately, this issue has done ‘code method’calculation and ‘Safety evaluation method’ calculation under the situation of6,7degree seismic fortification intensity. At first, the accuracy and rationality of themodel were checked. Secondly, the conclusion that wind loading controls thestructural design in Nanchang is achieved after the comparison of the layer shearingforce, layer overturning moment, layer displacement and layer displacement angel. Itis illustrated that, increasing structural earthquake-resistance measures is more profitfor the building than increasing seismic forces in Nanchang.
