Brake is one of the most important parts of machinery safety operation, enormouseconomic losses and tragedy casualties caused by braking failure every year, whichdraw many researchers pay much attention to the research of the brake. When themotion of mechanical brake, the surface of brake friction pair will generate largeamount of friction heat, heat accumulated under continuous brake friction, the frictionsurface temperature rise rapidly, which not only increased the wear of brake materials,reduces the friction coefficient, but also temperature gradient and thermal stress willmake the friction surface of the thermal crack will appear, and seriously the brakeperformance complete failure. Especially in recent years, with the development ofhigh-speed, heavy load machine, has exacerbated this phenomenon.This paper based on disc brake structure and working theory, numericalsimulation method research on domestic and abroad, on the basis ofâ… disc brake oftramcar wheel as the research object. According to the actual size of the brake, thebrake friction pair model is established by using Pro/E software, established themathematical model of brake friction temperature field, stress force field and itscoupled multi field. The tramcar braking process of temperature field, stress field andthe thermal stress coupled field simulated by using the multi physical field couplingsoftware COMSOL Multiphsics, the main research work is as follows:Firstly,the brake working principle, main performance parameters of the brakeand the brake friction pair work situation and its failure form were introduced. Thebasic theory and equation related to the brake temperature field, force field and multifield coupled numerical simulation was studied;Secondly,the mathematical model of tramcar brake temperature field, stress fieldand coupling field were established,combined with the actual material propertyparameters of brake, multi physics coupling software COMSOL Multiphysics wasused to simulate the friction car brake in different operating conditions, the brakefriction temperature field, stress field and thermal stress coupled field were obtained;Thirdly,the tramcar brake friction material property parameter and its temperaturedistribution, stress distribution and stress coupling relationship between force andtemperature were analysed, the reasons of the different temperature field, stress fielddistribution were found out, the relevant rule was revealed; Fourthly,the typical operating conditions of the bench test were selected, verifiedthe simulation results under typical working conditions;The research work of this paper provides technical reference data for experimentresearch and actual braking condition of tramcar brake friction pair, has practicalvalue of improving the brake working conditions and optimization, exploiting highquality of tramcar brake.
