The research and application of engineering problems based on the ANSYS soft-ware platform is studied in the present paper as The Evolutionary Structure Optimiza-tion (ESO) method.According to the actual need in the design of engineering structure, ESO method isapplied to the flexible wing structure in the concept design stage with the combinationof the large commercial finite element software ANSYS and advanced aircraft structuredesign concept. Comparing and discussing the preliminary optimization results, usingthe ANSYS software platform to analysis and summary the optimization results. Thedetails are as follows.Firstly, the paper review the development process of Structure Optimization andthe important position of Topology optimization design, then make a concise demon-stration to a variety of optimization theory, methods and strategies. Among these meth-ods, simple and efficient ESO method is highlighted with discussions of its advantagesand disadvantages. The conventional ESO method is implemented in numerical simula-tions, which is based on the APDL language. According to different points of focus inoptimization direction, this paper introduce method to delete the material based onstress level and method based on total stiffness constraint. On this basis, discuss thecontinuum structures element removal strategy of topological optimization within stressand displacement constraints, append the displacement sensitivity analysis and stresssensitivity analysis in order to advance the meticulousness of optimization strategy.Then verify the effectiveness of the proposed method by optimization result of severaltypical engineering examples.Secondly, research the background of ESO method with multiple working、multipleconstraints、multiple materials conditions. Do some improvement and perfection withESO method and verify the improved method with the application of APDL program-ming on ANSYS platform. Make the necessary discussion and analysis about associa-tion of the optimization results and parameters.Then, tracking the international and domestic forefront research and development,Apply the intelligent flexible structure to advanced adaptive wing technology, discussits theoretical basis and methods from the engineering perspective. Carry on the topo-logical optimization design in the conceptual design phase of aircraft’s leading edge, the process is divided into two stages. Meticulous research was made on the base of twostages optimization because the objective function and constraints are different in eachstage. Discuss the practicability of new structure with optimal aerodynamic shape invarious flight conditions.Lastly, make the summary of flexible wing structure optimization which based onthe ANSYS platform. Make an outlook of future development and analysis the possibleproblems of ESO method in practice.
