Distortion test is a significant part of research on compatibility of inlet and engine, the mainpurpose of which is to determine distortion characteristics of engine inlet and its influence on enginestability and performance. Currently, researchers domestic mainly adopt flat baffles and simulatingplates and use the method of test to simulate the flow field of engine inlet. Although test is the mostdirect and effective mean to study distortion, the cycle of test is long and the cost high. In this paper,method of CFD technology is used to simulate the distortion flow field of flat baffles and simulatingplates, on basic of which to reseach the design technology of simulating plates.In this paper, CFD calculation softwares and several commonly used turbulence models arestudied. Results show that the calculation data are basically the same between Fluent and CFX;distortion indexes calculated by turbulence models are close to each other, but they are both biggerthan test data. Based on existed test data, the fan-shaped plates, flat plates and simulating plates arecalculated, and the mapping relationship between AIP interface and calculation interface areresearched. Results show that, for fan-shaped plates and flat plates, rules exists between AIP interfaceand calculation interface, but not for simulating plates because of the irregular shape.Using CFD technology purely to design simulating plates is difficult to achieve currently. Test isalso required. A design method based on distortion total pressure map is tryed to use and an exampleis presented. Result shows that the total pressure map is similar to the given, the distribution of highand low pressure area is approximately simulated. As for distortion index, remains to be validated bytest.
