At present, the aircraft piston engines are widely used in aircraft, helicopters and etc. As the mainsystem and the important parts of aircraft piston engine, the intake system has important effects on theengine performance and fuel economy. And because of the physical and chemical properties ofkerosene, the carburetor is no longer suitable for aircraft piston engine with burning kerosene.Electronic control injection system can effectively improve the engine performance, fuel economyand emissions targets. The fuel system work under the normal operation of the intake system iscrucial for the engine fuel mixture quality. And improve the intake volumetric efficiency is relevant tothe structural parameters of the intake system. Therefore, the study of the intake system’s structureand parameter has important significance to the development of aircraft piston engine.At first carry on the3-D CFD analysis on a certain type of aircraft piston engine intake system.Through the steady state calculations to figure out the import and export pressure difference, andanalyze the circulation of intake manifold; through the export mass flow rate to analyze the engineintake unevenness, find out that the intake system has a large intake unevenness, and to point out theexisting problems in the design. After this, by using the engine intake system steady flow experimentbench to make a steady flow test of the former intake system, and by using the test data to verify the3-D CFD simulation results. The experimental results show that CFD calculation results are slightlyhigh than experimental results, the range of allowable error in.Then analyzes the structure and function of the engine intake manifold and the flow characteristicsof the intake system. Subsequently, based on the engine1-D performance simulation software todesign the length and diameter of the intake manifold and the volume of the pressure stabilizingcavity as structure size. The structure size of1-D performance simulation results show that thedesigned intake system can effectively improve the volume efficiency of the engine. And carry out3-D CFD simulation of the intake system by using the computational fluid dynamics software,analyzes the circulation of intake manifold and intake unevenness of the designed intake system.Finally by using the engine intake system steady flow experiment bench to make a steady flow testof the designed intake system, and use the test data to verify the3-D CFD simulation results, theexperimental results show that CFD calculation results coincide with experimental results, the rangeof allowable error in, proved that the designed intake system has a good intake evenness.
