With increasing complexity of UAV missions, the transmission amount of external sensor dataincreases as well. Due to different interface of the external sensors, the exchange efficiency betweenflight control computer and external sensor device is relatively low, so a stable and reliable sensorcommunication mechanism is needed. Meanwhile, with the surge in the internal data of the flightcontrol computer, it’s urgent to find a data bus with a high data transfer rate and high stability and tobreak the constraints of flight control computer’s performance. In this paper, with existing research,flight control computer1553B communication unit based on the FlexRay bus is carried out to studyand solve the disunity and overloaded bottleneck problem of flight control computer interface toexternal sensors and internal bus.In this paper, firstly the application condition of several mainstream CPUs is analysized and the1553B communication unit’s framework based on FPGA is researched. Then based on currentexternal sensors traffic data of flight control computer, the external bus as1553B and internal bus asCAN and FlexRay are chosen. After that the hardware and software parts of1553B communicationunit are designed.Secondly, based on the design rule and communitiong protocols of the1553B communicationunit, the1553B communication unit based on modular design ideas is designed. The hardwareschematics, PCB design, bottom-drive design and application software designing are completed.Thirdly, according to1553B sensor data communication protocol requirements, the1553B datais split and restructured, the design of communication protocols is finished to achieve the optimalperformance of bus resources and data link.At last, the minimum system, FlexRay bus, CAN bus and1553B bus test is completed for thedesigning of the1553B communication unit. Then according to the flight control computercommunication protocol requirements, the flight control computer CPU unit is combined to completethe on-line test. The correctness and reliability of the1553B communication unit is verified whenused in the flight control computer system.
