Torque converter is a core component of automatic transmission system,which can ensure asmooth start of transient changes in the system, variable speed and variable torque loads are notreflected in the basic power machine. In recent years, many domestic universities and researchinstitutions are engage in torque converter research by three-dimensional flow field analysis, but theresearch in the blades strength and life of torque converter is less than those researches.Hydraulic oil works as the Torque converter’s medium. Torque converter works as thetransmission torque of turbo machinery through the change of liquid’s Moment of momentum. In thework, its blades mainly pressure which generated by circulation of liquid in the torque converter andthe centrifugal force which generated by rotation. Because of the complexity of the force on its leaves,multi-physics co-simulation platform ANSYS Workbench will be used in the paper. Based on aone-way fluid-structure interaction technology, in other word, combined CFD and solid strengthanalysis to simulate the process of torque converter to get the strength and life of blades.Andthree-dimensional flow analysis with CFX fluid analysis software will be done in different workingconditions.Then, the pressure of flow field will be Passed to the blade structure analysis through thefluid-structure interaction platform,workbench. The distribution of equivalent stress and deformationwill be summarized. At last, fatigue tools which is professional fatigue analysis will be used tocalculate the life of all blades in workbench.Process analysis and research methods are proposed of fluid structure interaction about torqueconverter. For shape distortions, the design of complex torque converter blades, Fluid-structureinteraction analysis can be more accurately reflect the true torque converter blade surface stress state,at the same time,it provides a theoretical basis for optimizing the torque converter blades.
