With the reduction of the storage of traditional fossil fuels such as the coal and the petrol, and the environmental pollution the fossil fuels bring, the world is developing clean andrenewable sources actively, among which wind energy emerges at this background. With thedevelopment of technique of the wind power generation, people transfer their attention to theoffshore wind farm from the on-land one. Now, the scale of the offshore wind farm becomesincreasingly large and its topology becomes more and more complicated. So, it s necessaryto build accurate mathematic model to analyze the reliability of the wind farm. In this paper, the reliability of the collection system in the offshore wind farm is analyzed basing on theanalytic method.First, the reliability of the component and the system is defined as well as the reliabilityindices, and the relationships among the reliability indices are deduced. Basing on thedefinition and the relationship among the indices, the reliability assessment of simple serialand parallel systems is introduced. Then, the basic structure of the offshore wind farm is introduced, especially its collectionsystem. And the concept of minimal path is brought to simplify the original system intoseveral simple serial and parallel systems. The reliability of the original system can bededuced by analyzing the subsystems’ reliability. And then, the modeling of a practical case of offshore wind farm is expounded in details. The reliability of two different topologies are analyzed and compared through the modeling, during which one reasonable method to reduce the calculation is presented. At last, the wind speed model is built separately, and the influence of the wind on theoffshore wind farm is obtained through the model from two aspects: the influence the windspeed has on the single generator and the wake effect. Finally, some measures to improve thereliability are put forward.
