The outdoor advertising is the visual advertising we have the closest contact and it isvaluable media. With the development of market-oriented economy, the outdoor advertisingdeveloped rapidly in our cities and they have impact on the cities’ environment and image[1].The outdoor advertising facilities are the carrier of outdoor advertising and one of the outdoorpublic facilities. They greatly affect the cities’ landscape and environment. By far, thedevelopment of outdoor advertising facilities is unchecked, thus they have a negative impacton cities’ overall landscape and environment. We should re-plan and re-design the improperoutdoor advertising facilities in cities because they cause serious visual pollution.This paper is mainly about the problem that how outdoor advertising facilities in cities canbe in harmony with surroundings to promote cities’ images based on satisfaction ofocular requesting. Firstly, I elaborate the design elements of outdoor advertising facilitiesfrom morphology, color, lighting, material and texture. Secondly, I analyze the relationship ofcity and outdoor advertising facilities. At last, I take the outdoor advertising facilities in Erdoscity center for example and put forward the design scheme by investigating the currentsituation and combining the research above.The scheme follows the line of from macro to micro and from the whole to part. It study inthree parts include the overall design guidelines of outdoor advertising in Erdos city center,the detailed distribution of outdoor advertising facilities in specific roads and the design ofoutdoor advertising in important node. In the overall design guidelines phrase, I propose theplanning control guidelines to make general and holistic regulations in Erdos city center basedon the consideration of the overall environment and ocular requesting. In the detaileddistribution phrase, I propose the distribution scheme in specific roads and the style, form andthe control requirement of each advertising facility based upon the study of traffic, land usepatterns and landscape in these roads. In the design phrase, I analyze the morphology, color,and material of outdoor advertising and design two kinds of outdoor advertising facilities intwo districts by doing research on roads nature, surroundings and the requirement of users.The design settle problems from macro micro aspects to coordinates the outdooradvertising facilities with surroundings and fulfill the wholeness of the city, at the same time they meet users’ ocular requesting. It creates the distinctive outdoor spaces in city.
