AOTF (Acousto-optic tunable filter) is a newly developed spectroscopic devicebased on acousto-optic interaction, on which you can change the frequency of the RFsignal to adjust the wavelength of the diffracted light. Compared with the traditionalspectroscopic components, it has a lot advantages such as lighter weight, smallervolume, spectral sampling stepping controllable, flexible center wavelength selection,fast wavelength scanning speed and so on. Currently, the application of AOTF hasbeen applied in agroforestry, biomedical and deep-space exploration, and all theapplications have made favorable effects.In the process of using AOTF-based spectrometers, the spectral characteristicsare determined by AOTF, so understanding the AOTF performance and controllingits quality is very important for enhance the performance of the equipment. Thispaper describes the working principles and main performances of AOTF in details,and after the analysis and comparison of existing detection techniques, the testingmethod is proposed, and completed a set of dedicated test system on its basis. Thissystem can achieve detection of main performance parameters of AOTF in400nm~3200nm wide range of spectral bands. It has been used to test the AOTFs ofCE-5in production process, and will be used in final-stage tests. Meanwhile, thesystem is portable and automatic in data processing, has a high value for thedevelopment and promotion of AOTF and AOTF spectrometers.
