In recent years, the crane is widely used in various places, such as piers, ports, shipyardsand etc., but it often bears a lot of higher risk factors in running state, and accidentsoccasionally occur, then caused casualties and economic losses are growing. Thus, therunning status of crane is a very important event that administrators are always concernedabout. How to reduce the chance of accidents? From a technical perspective, we can studyfrom a crane safety intelligent monitoring system, fully understand its operational status. Thenwe can have a good way to monitor crane real-time working status, and give timely diagnosiswhen the crane fault alarm information generated. Therefore, the study of crane safetymonitoring system has a very profound practical significance.On the basis of analyzing the current situation of crane monitoring system developmentprocess, combined with the sensor technology, embedded computing technology, wirelesscommunication technology, and introduced the requirement of GB/T28264-2012for hugecrane industry, a design method of the crane safety monitoring system based on wirelesssensor network is proposed. In this paper, we use ZigBee technology to build up a wirelesssensor network with multi-layer structure, it includes the upper level computer (monitoringunit), the middle layer coordinator node (wireless communication unit), and the bottom for allkinds of sensor nodes (data acquisition unit).Firstly, the overall architecture of the system design is proposed, then the hardware andsoftware design of the whole system are introduced in detail. In the hardware part, usingSTC12C5A60S2micro-controller and CC2530chip as the core hardware platform to build anetwork, which achieves the crane work status sensors signal information acquisition,processing, storage and reliable transmission, such as weight, height, wind speed, stroke limitand other sensor signal data, meanwhile a video capture card is adopted to realize the functionof video monitoring. In the software part, it introduces wireless sensor network applicationsbased on Z-Stack communication protocol stack, and the designing of PC monitoring picturesbased on Kingview software platform. So the realization of real-time monitoring of craneoperation status parameters are displayed. Among them, the coordinator node between thesensor nodes communicate via ZigBee wireless sensor network, coordinated control moduleand PC monitoring software are to communicate through the serial port. Finally, on the basis of a large number of system functions to debug and verify, the test results show that thesystem has advantages of multi-nodes, multi-parameters signal acquisition, accurately dataprocessing, and man-machine interaction friendly. In short, it not only achieves the desiredgoals, but also effectively improves the safety factors.
