Research On The Maintenance Strategies Of Asphalt Pavements For Ningxia

With the rapid development of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region’s highway，the roadnetwork has taken shape and the density of the road network has raised in the past decades.But a lot of pavement distress began to emerge with the age of highway increased, which hasseriously affected the highway service level, the research on the maintenance strategy ofasphalt pavements has been put on the agenda.Focusing on the current use and maintenance situation of Ningxia Hui AutonomousRegion’s highway, the maintenance strategy of asphalt pavements was studied. The researchresults could be applied in the process of pavement management and maintenance. Thehighway disease types, their causes, affecting factors, maintenance status quo, trafficcomposition, local geography and climate were investigated on the spot. We got thecharacteristics of asphalt pavement distress in Ningxia. The important problems, including therelationship between climate and maintenance, traffic and maintenance, construction andmaintenance, management and maintenance, data management system and maintenance in thehighway management were analyzed. In this way, we have laid the foundation for thescientific and reasonable maintenance strategy.Exiting pavement detection technologies at home and abroad are summarized. Thetechnologies are classified scientifically according to their accuracy and methodlogy. CostEvaluation(CE), Operational Evaluation(OE) and Suitability Index(SI) are built as evaluationindex of pavement detection technologies. The suitability index values are calculated andranked. Then, the Cost/Performance Matrix is constructed. Eventually the pavement detectiontechnology evaluation system is established.To solve the problem of pavement maintenance multi-objective decision, the sortingmodel was established in this paper. Then the simple weighted method and the method ofminimizing the weighted sum of deviation square are applied in the ranking of pavementmaintenance. The ranking of the pavement maintenance for different routes is discussed.Asphalt pavement is sorted as expressway, secondary highway and highway under secondarywhen choosing maintenance measures, pavement performance is combined for all kinds ofasphalt pavement and maintenance solutions are made for both of them. Aiming at theproblem of pavement maintenance management in Ningxia, the highway managementstrategy is researched，constructive suggestions are put forward. Finally, this paper studied thenew asphalt pavement maintenance technology, providing train of thought and direction forasphalt pavement maintenance technology in Ningxia.
