When pedestrian density is high, the conflict between pedestrian and vehicles areextremely serious at signal controlled intersections. It impacts running speed of pedestrianand vehicles and reduces the intersection efficiency. Meanwhile, at crosswalk, pedestriansforce to cross the street illegally because of too long signal timing, deficiency of crossingfacilities, too long waiting time and mass-following psychology. It causes large impact onnormal running vehicles and huge safety risks to the pedestrian crossing at intersection.Therefore, by using of reasonable pedestrian crossing form, it will have an importantinfluence on the safety and efficiency of signal control intersection vehicle and pedestriancrossing.This paper put bidirectional six lanes signal controlled intersection as the researchobject, assuming that bidirectional vehicles flow were equal and dedicated signal phase forleft-turn was set at all entrance lanes. By the analysis of vehicles and pedestrians trafficcharacteristics, pedestrian and vehicles conflict mechanism was clarified. The can beinserted gap model was established. Based on classical two-dimensional cellular automata,the car-following, slow start and steering selection rules were established. Loadingpedestrian crossing route choice and crossing time judgment rules, the pedestrian andvehicles interaction operation cellular automata was superimposed. Simulation scheme wasconstructed by selecting pedestrian flow, vehicles flow, left-turn and right-turn vehicles ratioand signal timing as parametric variable. The average delay was used as evaluation index,schemes with multi factors combined were simulated and the average delay was calculated.The qualified schemes were screened to meet the demand of vehicles passing under certainservice level. The criterions of the applicable conditions of pedestrian crossing forms weredetermined by analysis of level of service. Based on the criterions, the delay value wascompared and analyzed in all schemes. The applicable conditions of different pedestriancrossing forms were given under multiple factors conditions. It can provide the decisionbasis for the department of city infrastructure construction and traffic management andcontrol department.
