Seepage deformation of tailings dam is the main cause of dam collapse, so the seepagestability problem has long been regarded by the hydraulic project. At the beginning of theseepage deformation often accompanied abnormal phenomenon, such as surface settlement,collapsing pit cased by piping or flowing soil, seeping on dam body or foundation and waterlevel anomaly. With the continue development of seepage deformation, it formatespermeability channel or caves in soil and will directly results in decreasing the stability ofdam quickly, even to the dam collapse. Therefore, research of seepage deformation andstability analysis under different seepage have necessary meaning on tailings dam stabilityprediction and accumulation optimized later.This article take a tailing dam for case. First, from the perspective of necessaryconditions of the seepage deformation and hydraulics, analyzed the possibility of the methodand path of dam seepage deformation. If understand the mechanism and condition of seepagedeformation, we can support the date for prevention and treatment of seepage deformation.Then, in order to analyzing and drawing the characteristics of the seepage deformation,reasons, mode and development trend, this paper aimed at phenomenas of collapsing pit indam body and vadose water in dam foundation using different research methods, such as:scene investigation, in-situ test, connectivity test,quality analysis of vadose water, groundwater research, and so on. By forming a set of effective research system of seepagedeformation, actually do a reference for similar projects.Then,In view of characteristics of seepage have direct relationship between the seepagedeformation and stability of the dam, this paper use the software of Geo-studio’ s seepmodule to simulate the seepage field of dam. And on the basis analyzed the characteristic ofInvasion line, the location of leakages point, the feature of pore water pressure.Therebyconcluded the macroscopic factors influencing dam seepage field, thus play a key role on damsafety management and stability controlling.Finally, this paper use the software of Geo-studio’ s Seep/Quake module and its’coupled effect to calculating and analyze the dam’s static stability and dynamic stability underdifferent seepage field. Due to the seepage channel is small, and the seepage deformation isonly in the early stage of development, so it is difficult to take into account the seepagedeformation in the simulation, this article only in normal dam as the simulation object isanalyzed. According to the comparison of stability under different seepage field, this paperanalyzes the several important factors affecting the seepage stability of dam body, such as length of dry beach, height of invasion, the differences of permeability coefficient betweenadjacent soil layer. Through the simulating of dynamic stability under the action of earthquake,analyzed the characteristics of internal stress, strain and displacement under the earthquakeaction on the dam body, and analyzed the stability of the dam body in the process ofearthquake.
