Asphalt pavement is very sensitive to temperature. The environment conditions like lowtemperature, large temperature difference and high temperature will lead road diseases such asfrost, crack and rutting, which are seriously affect and restrict the application of asphaltconcrete pavement. Improving the crack resistance under low temperature and stability underhigh temperature of asphalt is researched by many scholars both domestic and overseas for along time. Micro-encapsulated phase change thermoregulation agent (MEPCTA) wasprovided to improve the temperature condition of asphalt pavement. Former research shownthat MEPCTA can be used as an admixture and be effective to adjust the temperature. Specificheat capacity of MEPCTA and asphalt concrete is important thermal parameters, and alsoessential parameters for analysis of thermoregulation. However, preliminary researches arevery less.Proceeding from correction of system heat losses, a specific heat capacity test isdesigned. It improved from traditional test and is suitable for determining the specific heatcapacity of MEPCTA and asphalt concrete. Temperature curve can be given by the test andthen calculate the specific heat capacity. The test results show that the heating rate ofMEPCTA slows down under phase change temperature. The curve turns to be unusual. Thespecific heat capacity of MEPCTA change with temperature change ratio and shape like a hillunder phase change temperature. Regression equation is given as recommended specific heatcapacity function. Enthalpy and latent heat of MEPCTA can be turned out by quadrature ofthe function. The temperature curve of asphalt concrete doesn’t show the same tendency asthat of MEPCTA. The specific heat capacity of asphalt concrete also change with temperaturechange ratio. Regression equation is also given as recommended specific heat capacity fiction.The different amounts of admixture of MEPCTA have no effect on specific heat capacity ofasphalt concrete.
