With the development of information technology and the success of service-orientedcomputing on the web, traffic information service as the important part of intelligenttransportation system has also been much affected. In order to provide timely, accurate, andreliable traffic service information for the public in the complex traffic environment, how tomake the traffic information service integrating resources better to guiding the public travelhas become the research hotspot in the field of transportation received more and moreattentions from researchers. By analysis of the complexity of the traffic environment, andinspired by service discovery technologies in the web environment, the technology of servicediscovery for the traffic environment has been discussed and designed in this paper. The mainwork includes:1. The principles and methods of the common service description language are described.Through comparing different service description languages combining with characteristics ofthe traffic information service description, the TISOM (traffic information service ontologymodel) based on OWL-S (ontology web language for service) is provided. The model adoptsa set of methods which contains by OWL-S itself. According to the difference between webservice and traffic information service we expand the OWL-S language to provide a uniformdescription framework which combining semantics and syntax for the traffic informationservice. As a result of study in the ontology knowledge of traffic information service, atomicservice ontology model and composite service ontology model were established. We use theprotégécoding to implement the traffic information service description.2. On the basis of the TISOM and combining with the service discovery technology onweb, we designed a traffic information service discovery system which based on contextinference. Firstly, according to the traffic information service communication mode, systemuses a random walk model that means the query messages make service discovery by arandom walk process in the network. Then in order to reduce the computational load forservice matching, we performed two-stage filtering: one is theme-based and another one iscontext-based. At last, in order to improve the matching accuracy, first semantic then syntax matching is adopted in the system.3. An introduce of OSGi outstanding feature in the software architecture and plug-indevelopment. With the TISOM and traffic information service system a traffic informationservice prototype system which based on OSGi is designed. This paper provides overallsystem architecture, Buddle-based service design and Instance implementation.The technology of traffic information service discovery has been realized the function ofdescription, discovering and matching for information service under the traffic environment.It has a good environment adaptability, extensibility and accuracy for discovery, and also hasa great significance to the integration of traffic information resource and optimizing traffictravel.
