With the increase of nonlinear load, impact load in power grid, power quality problemmore and more attention, reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression technologyalso becomes research hotspot. Static reactive power generator as one of the core of theflexible ac transmission equipment, has a good compensation performance, has become thedevelopment trend of reactive power compensation technology.This paper introduces the development and status quo of static reactive power generatorand its working principle and control method, focuses on the theory of instantaneous powerand on this basis, the static reactive compensation device. On theoretical research and controlmethod of SVG research, on the basis of establishing mathematical model, and further discussits control strategy. Static var generator (SVG) control method including ways of currentindirect control and direct current control method, compared with the current indirect controlmethod, direct current control mode in current tracking speed and control precision has moreadvantages, so this article chooses direct current control, the sine pulse width controltechnology.Based on the above theory, using MATLAB/Simulink simulation software to build thestatic reactive power generator, the complete system model, the reactive current, direct currentcontrol method for voltage and current double closed loop control, verify the feasibility ofSVG in reactive compensation. In addition to design hardware and software solutions,hardware part adopts the phase-locked loop (PLL) synchronous sampling technology toachieve the power grid synchronization of data sampling, can realize the automatic tracking ofpower grid frequency; According to the direct current system design of the control softwarepart, using DSP as the core processor of controller, can improve the real-time performance ofthe compensation. Integrated over the design of the hardware circuit and control software,SVG control circuit device is developed, and obtain some experimental waveforms, developedfor complete VSG device beds down good technology foundation, but also provides a test platform for the further study of SVG.
