The ship lift is an important navigation structure, compared with the ship lock, ithas advantages of shortening lift time and saving water resources. The mostimportant thing of lifting processes for the vertical ship lift is to ensure ship chambersmooth lifting, which requires multi-motor to keep speeds synchronization. Currently,a mechanical synchronization control system, which through a mechanical axis toachieve multi-motor synchronization, was commonly used in synchronizationsystems of the vertical ship lift. As to the lack of the mechanical synchronizationsystem, main research points of this paper are summarized as follows:1. As to the lack of mechanical synchronization control scheme, an electricsynchronization control scheme for multi-motor was proposed in the paper.2. Multi-motor electric synchronization control structure was studied. There werenon-coupling control and coupling control. A relative coupling control was used inthis paper by compared with a variety of synchronization control structures. Further,a compensation of the relative coupling control was improved.3. A controller of the multi-motor electric synchronization control system wasresearched. As to the nonlinear, parameter variation of the ship lift system, it wasdifficult for the traditional PID to obtain good synchronization control performance.Thus, intelligent algorithms were applied in the controller design. The fuzzy PID andthe single neuron PID were applied in the synchronization control system in thispaper.4. Based on the Geheyan ship lift, a simulation model of the vertical ship liftsynchronization control was established. According to the simulation results, thefeasibility of electric synchronization control was verified. Further, thesynchronization performance of the tradition PID controller, the fuzzy PID controllerand the single neuron PID controller was contrasted.The main purpose of this paper is to explore a control scheme for the lift system ofthe vertical ship lift, and provide a reference for the future design of the ship lift.
