As an irreplaceable lubrication materials, grease has been brought to attention of thenational researchers. This topic according to the research status of lithium grease, putforward to the grease correlation research of rheological and tribological propertiesAwl-board Rheometer and Four-ball Tester was used in this subject and summarized thecorrelation between them and the influence factors on the basis of these tested data.In this paper, Awl-board Rheometer and the Four-ball tester are the principal researchtools. Firstly, Theoretical derivation the grease testing correlation of rheological andtribological properties based on the working principle of two test instrument. Accordingto research, it is feasible to study the lubricating grease correlation properties withAwl-board Rheometer and the Four-ball tester. At the same time, the influence factors ofgrease torque also have effect on the rheological properties and tribological propertiesof the greases.In the same conditions studied a kind of grease, torque test and the apparent viscosityand the friction coefficient curve, we can see the grease apparent trend of viscositycurve and friction coefficient curve are alike. And then change operating conditionsshch as speed, load and temperature tested and compare with the correlation propertiesof grease, we can know the working conditions is how to influenced the greaserheological and tribological properties. Results show that the friction coefficient of thegrease substantially decreases gradually along with the increase of viscosity of grease,and grinding spot diameter with the increase of viscosity also showed a trend ofdecrease.Finally, change the grease formulation and process to test the relationship betweenthe rheological and tribological properties. According to the formulation process of theexisting lithium base grease, the subject changed grease base oil, fatty acid and fattyacid composition in proportion, and process to select the three most can change theperformance of grease process: the highest refining temperature, cooling and grindingparameters. To investigate he change of these parameters affect the lubricating greaserheological properties and friction wear properties. The results show that, theformulation and process parameters play a decisive role in the performance of thelubricant grease products.Through the research of the grease correlation of rheological and tribologicalproperties, We can lay the foundation for use the test of rheological properties oflubricating grease to characterizing the friction and wear properties.And summarizedthe effections of working conditions, the formulation and process to guide thelubricating grease prepararion and test.
