With the gradual development of China’s economy, the problem of slope instability appeared in large numbers of construction projects. The shear strength parameters have a significant affect to the stability analysis and slope stability analysis. This article is supported the slope governing project of the east side of Changchun south Road in Zhouqu and have a shear test to the different stratum, using different way to analysis a certain section of the slope.Firstly, in the project, making two groups of shear test in the representative test site, one is strongly weathered phyllite, the other is mixed gravel soil. Through analyzing the experimental results in detail, and compared with geological exploration report results and experience the values indicated that there is a large difference to the shear strength parameters in different way, especially the cohesive force. Among of them, the main basis for geological exploration report results is the inner test results, and the engineering results is that according to the similar geological conditions gained by the engineering analogy, because it is inner experiment, small size of specimen, the rock is imperfect, and the broken specimen, which reduces the shear strength parameters; And there is a difference to different engineering geological condition and the different also exists in experience. So the shear test results are more accurate.Secondly, according to the pre-shear test results and use the slope engineering for instance, respectively using the theory of finite element strength reduction and limit equilibrium theory, make a comparison and analysis to the strong weathering phyllite under different working conditions (natural static, earthquake, rainfall)in MIDAS/GTS and the Lizheng rock software, thinking the reinforced slope is in unstable state before reinforce, and slope stability after reinforcing and shows that the slope reinforcement measures are effective and reasonable. Two methods stability analysis of the strong weathering phllite, the finite element strength subtraction can consider the rocks’physical and the interaction between geothchnical materials and supporting structure, and evaluate the reinforcement function of the supporting structure, two methods of slope stability analysis have a litter difference. So the stability evaluationof strong weathering phyllite that is reinforced should be comprehensive two common discriminant algorithm. The conclusion of this article can be reference in the practical engineering application, and give a experience to the strongly weathered phyllite and gravel soil slope stability analysis and reinforcement design of shear strength parameter values, help to select evaluation methods to strongly weathered phyllite.
